March Newsletter 🌞
For a limited time: Wellington City Council recycling bag collection
Some of you have mentioned that we don’t just reduce your landfill waste, but also your recycling! 🥳 If you are one of the many WCC addresses that is supplied with 52 bags a year, you may have found yourself with a substantial amount of leftovers sitting in a drawer or cupboard. (We still have some left from when they were green in colour!)
For the next 4 weeks you can put your leftover recycling bags in your returns box with your empty jars. We will pick them up, count them and return them to council. We are curious to see how many come in!
Warehouse Space Available! 🏠
We have some sad news: Kaicycle is moving out of the shared warehouse. We're gutted to see them go, especially as they were the core party who set it up and brought everyone together! We’ll miss having Kate, Liam, and other members of their team around on site. They’re still going to be operating, just mostly from their farm site in Newtown (check out their non-profit mahi here!)
We’re hoping the available space will be perfect for another small business or local initiative. Whether looking to upscale, downsize, or consolidate warehouse and office activities on a single site, the high stud space is very versatile and could suit a wide range of businesses. Located in Rongotai, the site currently houses three small businesses, all working in the circular economy/waste minimisation sector.
Read more about the space on this trademe listing and get in touch with Kaicycle if you’re interested, and please feel free to share it with your networks. We’re hoping to find another business for the space as soon as possible, as the rest of us are very motivated to stay here!
New Initiative: Pay it Forward
Times are tough. For many in Aotearoa, living costs are going up faster than their wages. People all over the motu are struggling. School lunch programs are failing our tamariki. We can’t fix the system overnight, but we can fill some tummies - with your help!
On our website we now have a “Pay it Forward” option in the shop menu. There you can purchase a meal box for anyone to claim when they need it, for free.
If you or anyone you know is in need of some kai, this page is also where you can “Claim a Box” for free, for you and your whānau. A maximum of 2 boxes (i.e. 4 portions of 3 recipes) is able to be claimed per household per week. More information is available on the website.
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”
